Ah, summer in Italy. The words alone are enough to conjure visions of seaside escapes, leisurely lunches under olive trees, and the joys of savoring life to the fullest. When it comes to travel, it’s always nice to experience a locale in the most authentic way possible—knowing the best under-the-radar spots. From hidden trattorias to remote islands, they’re the beating heart of any destination.

And the only way to really get the insider perspective is from those who live it: the locals. So, in the spirit of the season of travel and discovery, we reached out to two members of the Câllas team to let us in on some favorite Italian summer destinations, recipes, insider tips, and what they’re wearing for all of it.

SARDINIA PAN ICCHIO BEACH

Enza, Founder and Proprietress of Cieffe SPA.

Where is your summer home away from home?

Isola di Sant’Antioco, a small peninsula located at the southern tip of Sardinia.

SARDINIA CALLAS DESTINATION

Which Italian destination is on your travel wish list?

The Amalfi Coast between Positano and Salerno.

What is your favorite summer food?

I love eating tons of fresh vegetables from my garden: tomatoes, eggplant, giant white onions paired with fresh fish bought from the fishermen in the harbor.

Is there anything you try to avoid during the summer?

During the summer, and in general, I avoid artificial people—I like authenticity. I always avoid any event with too many people, and that especially includes overcrowded beaches.

Do you have any favorite restaurants you like to frequent in the summer?

I really prefer to dine at my house with good friends. Otherwise, I love small trattorias in hidden places. For example, there’s one on the Pan di Zucchero beach in Sardinia that is very special. You can only get there via boat and the name is a secret.

Which essential Câllas piece is at the top of your packing list?

I can’t leave home without my Sirene Poplin Shirt. It’s so chic with the silk twill Milano scarf in the back, but still feels effortless.

Are there any international destinations on your travel wish list?

I’d like to visit Scotland and Ireland—mountains, meadows, and beaches—with my Sasha Cashmere Sweater.

Chiara; Milanese Fashion Executive.

Is there one specific place you like to travel to every summer?

Yes, Sardinia! I especially love the southern part of the island—it’s full of nature, wonderful small beaches scattered along the coast, and not much tourism. You’re guaranteed to relax.

Which Italian destination is on your travel wish list?

Capri and the Aeolian Islands are both places I haven’t experienced yet but hope to soon.

What is your favorite summer food?

I love eating watermelon in the summer. It’s refreshing and delicious, and you can add it to so many recipes. One of my favorites is making a salad with watermelon, cucumber, black olives, and feta cheese. Delicious!

CALLAS WATERMELON SALAD

Is there anything you try to avoid during the summer?

Yes, checking my emails…

What are your two favorite restaurants (anywhere in the world) for summer dining?

Omen in NYC and Ralph’s in Paris.

Which essential Câllas piece is at the top of your packing list?

Always the Bianca Dress. It’s perfect for wearing during the day and then adding some accessories at night. Plus, it’s so light, fresh, and comfortable.

Are there any international destinations on your travel wish list?

I would very much like to visit Hawaii—it looks so beautiful and tropical.
